This is interesting all though there are some foreign cars shown.

Recently Unearthed Collection

A New York man retired. He wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal. The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 years; the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs.

The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway... so, nobody made an offer on the place.

The NY guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth; moved in, and set about to tear in to the barn as curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a generator and a couple of grinders... and cut thru the welds.

What was in the barn?

Go to;

and start wishing you had bought the place.

That would be a hell of a find!

1000 gallons of soap and water would clean that fortress up.

Sorry but this has been debunked. The barn and cars all belong to a auto dealer who has been collecting cars for years.

Sorry to ruin your dreams, but maybe you could talk him into selling some at a fair price.

Back in the early 50's when my father was a Buick dealer he told me of another Buick dealer that had for several years taken a new Buick each year and put in storage. Last time I heard of him was in the mid 60's and he 20 some cars. I have often wondered what happened to them, and when he quit. Since my father passed away several years ago I can't ask what he knows of such.

I saw this collection months ago, and this is the first time I learned the TRUTH.

Thanks,

Hey Orphans2

Is debunked the same as de-beded? The blog came in on an email, don't know where it originated from. The building would make a great shop though.

Gerry, debunked or debedded whichever. I guess it would depend upon the situation. I think debunked would be a harder fall, if it happened in the dark. heheheeh

In any case the barn is real and so are the cars, just not the story about the owner. Regardless, I would love just to walk thru and see them all, let alone actually own them.

Here is the link on the debedding : www.snopes.com/photos/automobiles/barnfind.asp

There was a guy here in Springfield, for some reason I cannot remember his name, anyway he had a little tavern where he sold auto parts. Everyone knew he had cars in the attic of the building and a lift to get them there but when he passed away the shock was unreal. Original cars from the early 1900's in dusty but very good condition. They even sent a representative from Jay Leno's garage to bid on them. No fooling- I saw the cars. It was like finding history-very cool.
