I was wondering if I can get parts from some used car to make the swap. Seems kind of high to buy the kits avalable. Would really welcome any help.

Thanks Bob

easier to switch to an Explorer differentail as it already has disc and is about the right width. lots of them in the salvage yards now

all 8" Fords are 28 spline, so you just need to find a complete disc setup for a 9" 28 spline which should have the small Ford bearing end. The end plate is what your concerned about. E-bay - find em all day for about $250 - $350 . I have bought a couple like that before.

With a light car like your coupe, I don't think you will notice any better braking performance after this investment. You will also have to change the proportioning valve and residual valve to the rear from 8 lb to 2 lb. The master cyl will also need one with equal size resevoirs.

So why do you want rear disc ???.....cruizin' at 100 mph ?? It's not just a axle change over. Must change master cylinder. maybe lines. If under floor, 2 pound residual valve. Maybe change distribution block..........so ???
