I listed this before else but though I would start new discussion, when I turn ign.off eng continues to run 2-3 seconds. One person told me it was due to way elec.cooling fan was hooked up but didn't know how to fix.The fan runs on after eng.shut down and will continue to run until lower temp.is reach.Like I said eng only run couple of seconds after shut down. Thanks

You probably got the fan circuit hooked to the positive side of your ignition. It should go through a ign on circuit at the switch and not at the coil.

That's exactly the problem I had... the fan acts like a generator and powers the coil for a few seconds.... I had it connected to the ignition switch... I moved the conection to the wiring panel to a slot that was hot when the key was on.... that fixed the problem... al

Fans should go thru a relay too. LOTS OF INFORMATION HAS BEEN PUT OUT ON THE SUBJECT, and the fan manufacture can provide wire diagram.

I wish you well,.

As AL stated it was the cooling fan manual switch.I found if I turn of the manual switch before killing ign.shuts right down. This switch is just override in case something fails with the auto.but normal I just leave it on.

Gene, if you put a test light on the coil and watch it when you turn the engine off you will see that it gradually goes out....not immediately like it should.... I had the fan wired to the on side of my ignition switch which caused my problem.... I ran it back to the wiring panel and the problem went away... al

Feed back thru the motor windings........relay....relay......relay..$6 at Radio Shack. 30 amp contacts, 12 volt DC coil. When all else fails, read the fan manufacturer's instructions, he, he.

Nuff said, Jim
