Hello all,

I am new to streetrodding and have a 1940 Mercury Coupe. The problem I am experiencing is at 45-50 mph if the wheels are turned and a small bump comes up the car will turn hard left. The column is late model GM and the front end is a monoleaf. I notice it more with left turns. as long as the road is even and straight it is a smooth ride. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. God Bless all. Anthony

If you have a idler arm take a close look for any loosest also tie rod ends. What you have is loose play somewhere in steering.I had a P/U once and if I hit a bump or railroad crossing I had to slow down to stop the vibration.I replace idler arm and problem left.

Thanks Gene,

I will check the arm and tie rod ends. Sounds about like the problem as when it takes off I do not feel in control of the car. It has made me stay home instead of cruising to some events.
