I don't believe Goodguy's had anything to do with the NSRA allowing later models at selected shows. They did it at NSRA events with a low turn outs only like Burlington and Tampa. The larger attended NSRA events such as York, Knoxville, Louisville and others remain pre 48. Remember its all about the money and nothing else. More cars equate to more $$$$$.
Shows are a BUSINESS, now with that said, we must DECIDE when they are not to our liking. I have yet to have any PROMOTER twist my arm in an effort to get me to attend. Profit IS NOT A DIRTY WORD, but again you and I have to decide when it isn't for us. I enjoy the shows I attend, and I am sure there are more that I would enjoy if I chose to attend.
I attend, KNOXVILLE, FRANKENMUTH MI., and LOUISVILLE. The gals LOVE KNOXVILLE, and FRANKENMUTH, and that makes me a happy camper. They need to be considered too.
Here is a link to NSRA show schedule... http://www.nsra-usa.com/annual.htm .... if a show name does NOT have "street rod" in it then it's open to newer cars up to 73 I belive (I think I was told that the rule for those show's is 33 years old or older so this year the cutoff would be 1973 and it moves forward every year).... here are the ones I found...Northeast Nationals (Burlington)... Milwaukee Nationals....Richmond Nationals.... Golden State Nationals (Sacramento).... Southeast Nationals (Tampa)...
Big Al sittin back in paradise.
