I have a stock 1996 LT1 eng.with alum.heads,can someone tell me the rated horsepower.I was told this same eng came with iron heads but I just dont know.Thanks

i bought one in 96 with iron heads it was rated at 300 hp....

If you are thinking about putting it in a street rod believe me you don't need more HP than what the LT1 will give you. A simple reprogram will get you almost 100 more HP too.

Randy, If you will go to this site it will explain all the LT1's there was even a 265 CID LT1 and I think the HP range was from 220-330

the 96 LT1 in the Vette had alum heads, factory rated at 300, in the Fbody with iron heads it was rated at 285, these were factory NET figures in the car.
