Well, a while back I made a list of the things I needed to get done on my car before it went out for paint and just about fell over at how long the list was. For the past 8 or 9 months I've been concentrating on knocking off the items one at a time and have actually made great progress. I've finished aligning the front fenders, hood shelves and splash apron, installed a new 3-piece hood with double opening hardware, constructed my overhead console with radio/CD and toggle switches, installed my instruments, ignition and indicator lights, installed my front seat frames and constructed my rear seat frame with space under for battery, tools, and cleaning stuff, installed my electric window hardware and door jamb contacts, and installed a 3rd tail light. Still got a few more things to take care of, then I'll blow the car apart, caulk underneath, and off to paint by September. Can't wait to start assembly for the final time. Just maybe, this thing will be on the road next year. This is my first build and I couldn't have done all this stuff without input from all the guys and gals here. Thanks.

Sounds like things have gone well if you are going for paint in September, not that far away now. The build pics have really been impressive, going from a solid old car to a very good looking freshened one. You done excellent work so far. Looking forward to seeing more photos of the car as you get it done.

Thanks guys. The body work is all done so I think what's left for the shop is blocking and paint. The shop owner is a friend and fellow rodder so I don't anticipate any problems with him. He's actually already painted my rear fenders and they're awsome. Just picked up a Lokar E-brake and cable today and will install this weekend.

I've had the chance to see Robert's A up close on several occasions. Pictures don't do it justice! You know the kind of guy who is ridiculously meticulous, who takes the time to do EVERY detail to perfection, that we all wish we had the patience to be like? Well, meet Robert!

Thanks for the good words guys. Most of you garage builders know there are times during a build when you're really excited about what you're doin and times when it seems like it's goin nowhere. I'm finally finished with all the fit-up & fabrication and so jazzed about finishing that I can taste it. This is the car I've dreamed about since I was about 15 years old. Joe: the car will be black (it was good enough for Henry) with sand colored steelies, interior, and fabric top. Mark: my double opening hood hardware is from Dam Fink. It's a pretty neat system, but I suppose, like any hood hardware, alignment is all important and just takes a lot of tweeking to get it to work smoothly. Tony: it's not a teflon forcefield in the garage, it's a high voltage plasma disintegrator beam. Doesn't leave any dust behind!
