Well I sold the 37 coupe a couple of days ago. I'm glad I sold it but for some reason I feel worse about it everyday. I'm going to miss that little car and all the attention it got. It was a lot of fun. I don't think I'll ever start from scratch again but designing it "my way" was a great experience. I don't know what is next but I'm going to scale down quite a bit. The last bit of glory with the car came the other day...it was featured in a Collectors Edition Street Rod Milestone magazine (a periodical publication published quarterly) with an article and 4 page spread. It's going to have a prime spot in my library (the can).

Now that I'm walking and just a wannabe, can I still hang around here???

Rodders don't need the wheels if they are a real rodder at heart. You will always be welcome here. I sold my 37 and for 2 years did not have a car but then came the Willys. I am sure you will get the bug again soon. Congrats on the sale.

Hey Brady. I can understand why you're sad to see that car go. I was really impressed when I saw it at Del Mar. That one was sweet. Bet you'll have your hands into something else before the year is out. Rodding exists on many levels - driving, building, or dreaming. Doesn't matter which you're doin as long as it's one of them.

Question, but you don't have to give any details, or even answer if you rather not.

Counting your time and evertyning else that went into that beutiful 37, did you turn a profit? Everything I am seeing and hearing, it is hard to break even, especially as much time and money that had to be poured into your (that) 37.

Brady, congratulations on your sale. So many are trying the same thing without much success. It was without a doubt a beautiful car, but if I remember right, not one without it's share of issues. I seemed to remember you had issues (suspension) with the car right from delivery form the builder. Issues that should not have happened and would frustrate the heck out of any rodder. I doubt that you will be walking long and you are always welcome here.

To answer a couple of questions: Jack - I don't think a guy that pays a shop to build a car (like this one) can expect to make a profit. I cut costs wherever I could and did a lot of stuff myself but I still lost money. It costs a bunch to build these things. Thats why I probably won't do this again. Don - I'll probably be walking straight up in no time. I'M ALREADY ON THE HUNT. Robert - yes, I did have some issues with the car in the begining but after everything was fixed, it was an awesome car. The problems I had with Taylors Custom Street Rods is a story I'd be happy to share with anyone if you're interested.

That is what I expected. I think the best bet is to buy a turn key form an individual (not a builder), than to build it yourself. If I ever do it again, that is the route I would take. With the work and money I have thrown at my car, I would feel like I hit a home run if I could get a 1/3 of it back, but of course mine no ways as nice as the 37, plus its a 4 door DeSoto, not exactly on everybodys wish list. YOU GOOTA DRIVE 'EM.

I feel the same way. We just this week sold our '37 Roadster (a best of show prize winner). We received a great price (although we lost some money) but it is bitter sweet. I need now find something a little more driveable w/o worry!

We all know everybody is welcome here, old, young, and carless. Street rodding is an incurable disease, i bet you will have wheels before summer is out. Must be a good week to make sales, my 48 pick up went yesterday. just waiting for the cheque to clear the bank, then i will rejoice.Of course I already took delivery of the new '32 chassis and assembly has begun.

It would be a very sad day for me to sell mine so I will probably be buried in this one. My problem making any money on this car is that it was my first and I have literally done everything 3 times befor figuring out what is right. There for the cost is alot higher than it should of been. I guess you can't put a price on education but I know what one costs! I'm sure you'll find one soon, once the bug has you it doesn't let go.

We all know the Streetrod market is flooded with cars for sale and that its cheaper to buy a running driving car then build one. If you don't have the skill to build one yourself, you are really hung out to dry when it comes time to sell. It's just the reality of the hobby theres more for sale then there are buyers. The sad fact of a buyers market looks as if its here to stay. Theres 850 cars for sale on this site alone.

Al, just knowing what not to do doesn't mean it gets any easier. It is always hard to part with a car that you've spent a lot of time with. My wife shed a tear when our truck went out the driveway yesterday. We started it in 1992 and had a lot of time invested, along with a lot of great memories traveling around the country. ......But the thrill of a new project takes the sting out.
