I have ANPAC Chrome policy. Best thing about it is 25% rebate of premium if claim free for 3 years. Some States don't allow rebate on premiums though. A friend totaled his '40 Ford Sedan last year they paid off claim with no problem. His is the only claim I've knowledge of.

Hey Bob, I also have State Farm on several of mine. Haven't had a claim so I can't pass judgement.

Only thing I can say is that my local agent could not cover a couple of my rods because of the policy value I needed.

As to my others I went with Collector Car Insurance. You can find them in your GG's Gazette.

Give Grundy Insurance a call, they advertise on this site and we've never heard anything but good things from visitors to this site.

It is a nightmare if you have a wreck with Allstate, State Farm, Erie, Geico or any of the daily driver companies. My Buddy had a accident at GG, Hershey. The GRUNDY agent was there in a booth. He looked at both rods. In 8 days both parties had a check.

Shop around........you will come back to GRUNDY. Check this site.

I currently have my 10 collector cars covered by Grundy. I have never had a claim, so I can't say how that might go, but they have been very responsive when I needed to add or drop a car. Before that I had Hagerty. A friend of mine has Hagerty and when his hood latch let go and smashed his windshield they paid off promtly and with no hassle. The only reason I changed some years ago was that at that time Hagerty could not cover my '94 Viper and '97 Prowler. Grundy did.

I have friends who have State Farm and they have been pleased with the service. One guy hit a deer at 70 mph and destroyed his car from the bumper to the windshield. State Farm paid the claim to have everything fixed back to original condition. Hagerty has excellent claim service, but they are little pricey. I currently have Grundy. Their premiums are half for the same coverage that I had at Hagerty, but I can not speak to Grundy's claims service as I have not had any claims.

unfortunely I have some limited knowledge of claim service by grundy. unfortuate, only in the sense that I required it. I had a small claim due to catching a fellow rodders bumper in tight quarters at the 1st GG`s at hershey in2005. claim was payed promptly to the other parties satisfaction, with no increase in premium. they are most cost-effective in amounts over $25,000.00. in my mind, the agreed value and no mileage limitation features make grundy a no-brainer. just my thoughts, others may have a different experience.

Dropped one collector car insurance company around 2 years ago and saved myself $100 a year and gained unlimited mileage by going to Grundy which was recommended to me. Fortunely I have no direct knowledge of claim service but have heard people (rod shop)say they've had no problems with claims with Grundy.

I have had Grundy for years and one time on way fromFL.to TN a truck tire blew and pieces came into my grille.I reported it and they ask if 2500 would take care of problem and it would so they just sent check without adjuster, pics or anything. On 50K coverage cost is only 247.00 per year for everthing. They even pay tow, motel,i believe up to 200.00 for repairs due to mech.break down.I have family car with State Farm.Grundy also covers my Prowler.Would not change for any thing else.

My 49 year old niece was sitting at a red light two or three years ago and got rear ended. Her knee got messed up. State Farm and Citizens were involved because the two cars were insured by them. They both have had her tied up in court ever since. Even though she has letters from three doctors saying nothing was wrong with her knee before the accident. State Farm and Citizens is fighting her. I have heard of other people having a hard time with them. The accident happened in Michigan. She has since moved to New Mexico and now has to fly back and forth to court in Michigan. She has been told she will need knee replacement surgery. She also hasn't been able to work. Its a good thing she is married and has a working husband. I know her well and you can't find a more honest down to earth person. I know she is not pulling any scam. Nobody can figure out why these two big insurance companies are fighting this for so long when it is a small thing in the big picture.

Loren, the insurance companies have always been reluctant to settle claims especially accidents like your nieces. I have a friend whose van was also rear ended at a stop light, cop wrote of the report putting full blame on the person who hit her, but the insurance company continued to fight it for three years because their client was trying to put the blame on my friend. It was finally settled but no easy task.

I think since Katrina most insurance companies writing general policies are trying to retain their income by putting every claimant through hell to get what is rightfully due them. Insurance companies don't like writing checks.

Grundy sure seems to be the choice of most responding. Thanks for the info.
I have SF coverage on all my cars & home. They have been good but have had no claims.
They do have a limitation on milage though.
I will check Gundy out and see what their rates are.

I'll add my 2 cents worth. I have had State Farm for 35+ years on my home and daily driven vehicles. I'm sure things have changed somewhat, but when it came to insuring my two streetrods approximately 10 years ago, I had to go with Haggerty because of the restrictions with SF. Two years later and at the recommendation of a friend, I checked out Grundy and found that they were HALF the cost of Haggerty with no Limitations. I've been with Grundy on my streetrod & SF on the other ever since. I haven't had a claim with Grundy, but I have had two friends who have. One was a total loss and BOTH received payment within 10 day! Heaven forbid that I have an accident, but if I do, I'll take my chances with Grundy!

I know this is an old post, but wanted to add what I was told by a Grundy rep when applying for coverage for my '32 coupe. I was informed that this is event insurance only. My wife and I will occasionally take a weekend pleasure trip in the car, not to any specificly santioned event. In that case I was told we would not be covered. Something to be aware of.

The comment from ohtara1211 made me wonder if that was really true. I also have Grundy. So I called the rep and verified what and when coverage happens. The response that I received from the rep was that the car is covered going to and coming home from events AND if you want to take a pleasure drive on a nice day. It is NOT covered as a daily driver. Bottom line is that you CAN"T use your hot rod as a daily driver and have Grundy Classic Car Insurance. But, I think we all pretty much knew that. I asked if this was just for Ohio, where I live, or was it for all states. It is the Grundy policy. I feel better now.

Thursday, June 5...ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel, York, a few miles from Nats East. Bob pulled his fresh white diamond pearl Downs '37 out the parking lot. One block to gas & go. slowly headed to pump. Guy in a Honda, on the cell phone started backing out. Bob blew horn, Cheryl yealled. We were behind in '33, car behind us. CRASH !. Honda had State Farm. Bob had Grundy. State Farm agent was in a fog. Grundy on the mark. With in 18 minutes, it was resolved. In 6 days Bob had a check. State Farm said no one in their system could estimate damage..

Right, coverage to & from runs, cruize nites, shows, repair shop, etc.......use your immagination. Went to Good Guys columbus, left Wednesday. Daytona, 2 weeks early. Louyville, we leave Monday. We are covered.

Go Grundy. Jim said it.

At Indy agent said you are covered to and from show, repair work, test drive, or if you want to take car out for a cruise, dinner whatever you are covered--just not use as daily driver to and from work. That is how it was explained to me and man in front of me with 4 cars worth $100,000. If aT Christmas the weather is nice and you want to take car out for a cruise--go for it.

Regardless of what you were "told" READ YOUR POLICY!!! Your policy is only as good as the words on the paper, and guaranteed there are loopholes!

That said, Grundy covered a fire very quickly and very professionally on my dad's '62 Olds Cutlass convertible. He gives them top marks for their coverage!

I have used Sneed Roberson & Gerber, never had a claim but was shocked to learn a couple of years ago that after trading cars at Goodguys in Columbus my new car was not covered after the trade. Everytime you trade you must go through the whole process all over again reinsuring your new car. If you trade on a weekend and canot contact them your new car is not automatically insured.

38 coupe, I just recieved a letter from Sneed Robinson stating you are covered for 30 days when buying a new car as long as your current policy is up to date. I've had Sneed Robinson for close to twenty years, no problems.I had American hobbiest for one term when I was trying to save a little money. You couldn't do or go hardly anywhere with their policy.read the "fine print".I had Allstate a long time ago for all of my family vehicles. I had a Corvette thru them at the time for $600 a year for the vette. I was OK with that. Then my oldest son got his license and my insurance went to $1200 a year. I complained to my agent and he said "Don't pay the bill yet, I'll help you out" The new revisied bill I got was for $3600 for one car. I called back and said I can't afford you to help me anymore. They told me that as long as a young driver was in the household he had access to drive any of my cars, so this was the correct billing! I realized there were 6 more waiting behind the oldest for their drivers license too! Changed companies fast!!!!!...........CR

I have always been insured with collector car insurance companies, first Hagerty's and now Grundy's. Two years ago each of my cars were struck by drivers with standard insurers. Both companies had appraisers who knew about streetrods and antiques and made "right on" estimates. Hard to believe that State Farm couldn't get an estimator to do the estimate. Especially since a friend who has State Farm wrecked hiss 53 Chevy in a high speed collision with a deer. State farm wrote the check to cover all repairs including complete new paint job and a zz502 engine. Owner was thrilled with the handling of his case.

I'm not defending State Farm, but all insurers today either have people on staff or on contract that can do an estimate on streetrods, hotrods, customs, retro rods or antiques. If they couldn't there would be a lot more litigation than there is now. jm .02

My heart felt prayers go out to you and your family... I believe in most instances if the paper-work was completed and accepted by Grundy your father was covered by them even if the payment had not been recieved yet... Espeacially if he was a current client with Grundy... This has been my experience on automobile purchases with my regular automobiles... One problem I have is that during buisness hours someone at Grundy should have been able to take your fathers call... I just insured my 33 with Grundy and I do not have a agent with them, I take who ever answers the phone when I call...

I am concerned with this 1937 coupe... The sequence of events of the car drifting across the roadway striking the guardrail makes you wonder if something was shot under the cars front-end possibly broke... Many cars I see are not put together correctly, I hope the car is being investigated and that nothing broke causing this accident... I would talk to your insurance agent you have your autos insured with and see if they can offer suggestions on action you might take...

Good luck and God Bless your family...

When I purchase a new (another) vehicle, it is covered by my insurance carrier for my existing cars, in this case, State Farm, per the coverage limits of my highest covered car, for 30 days. Even if i don't notify State Farm beforehand. This could be a mandatory requirement by my state of residence, as most insurance companies have to meet certain requirements of states in which they do business. Perhaps Steve may have the same type of coverage?
