If you have a copy of the Sept. 07 issued of Rod & Custom, go to page 74. Read the small SEMA article at the bottom of the page paying particular attention to the description of how to stay away from counterfeit parts.....then, just like in the emails you get all the time, look at the next page. Coincidence? Kinda matches prior "Buyer Beware" discussions on this site.

September 2007 Rod & Custom has the article attached below on page 74. Good article and needs to happen in every state because this is just the beginning and any protection that consumers can get should be appreciated.

double click on the article and read it.

Let me take a quick look at the other side of the coin. First, why are there counterfit parts? I remember when the bear claw first came out. As I remember it there were something like $78. I found the same think at a John Deere dealer (big tractor door latch) for under $10 each. VW hood latch with all ID ground off for $50. I'm sure you have all seen more of the inflated (under statement) prices that invite someone to low ball. The market is/was ripe for it. I had a proble once with a part that was faulty and ended up contacting SEMA. Long story was that SEMA members pay dues, you don't.
