Anyone have any experience or ideas on how to pinstripe two lines around the center cap on a wheel. The retaining clips for the caps are still on the wheels so those need to be worked around.

One shot and brushes ready to go and another shot to steady my hand. ;)

unless your a sword fighter best get yourself a bugler wheel . every time i try it i get mad as heck then end up on the porch with a beer. lot harder than it looks. an old friend of mine has an old axle he sets wheels on so he can turn it. lot easier than walking in circles around it

I think Shine is on to something here. If you can make it where the wheel spins and, then make a rest for your arm to keep it stationary you could turn the wheel to get your stripe. Try it on something old first. And NO Shines not that old.

lot of strippers use them. use the rim for your guide and turn the wheel slowly. the trick is to turn it all the way without stopping and maintain a steady speed. i still strip flames and stuff but to lay down with the sword i have to do some everyday. just dont have the time anymore.

I'm still doing the math on how many beers will be required to stripe the wheels.

Once that's figured out maybe I'll find something to spin the wheels. It really doesn't look that difficult until you think how.

You can buy a "Lazy Susan" from your local WalMart for little or nothing - it is sturdy enough to put the tire or cap on it and spin it and paint. It is small enough that you can store it out of the way until your need it again. I have used mine for literally dozens of "I gotta be consistent" projects with my car and "honey do" projects as well. Give it a try.---you will find them in the dishes section

Well here it is six months later and I'm just getting back with my solution. The spinner is made from a disk blade mounted on a plow shaft sitting in a pillow block bearing ( this why you never throw things away).

The stips were laid down with a 30+ year old JC Whitney striping wheel and one shot. The center cap was used as a guide with a few touch ups with the sword striper.

The striping is the fun part but Shine's right it requires time..... which seems to be the hardest thing to find.

As for how many beers just as many as it takes

Good job. I tried it once, I don't have the patience.
