Gene Moyer ripped me off on the purchase of a '48 Chevy Aerosedan. He was on eBay as woolfie2002b. He has screwed other people as well. He is out of Orrick, Missouri. Any help on locating this thief will be certainly appreciated. Car is a black '48 Chev. Aerosedan missing a chrome strip on right front fender. Has no rear window or speedo. Thanks. Only Moyer I could find in orrick was a Kyle J.M Moyer(J for Gene or Jean?) 206 n. Bissell. 816-496-0110. Don't know if this a help or it could be not even related. Good luck. If it's him, I am sure we can get a posse together.

After reading about these kind of stories, especially in the Buyer beware section, I wonder if it would help if we put our heads together for a "Best Practices" for buying and selling cars over the web or over long distance. There are a lot of people on this site with valuable experience on what to do and not do. There sure have been a lot of people burnt...including myself. Maybe we can help to slow up some of these festering dung heaps.

I hope youfind the slob. Do you have any more info to post on him? Number, email address etc?

What's the scoop on his method? Is Ebay helping you on this?

Here's the latest on GENE MOYER. After I returned to Alaska with an empty car trailer in May '07, that I was to use to pick up the car, Gene's mom, Gracie calls Oklahoma to ask when we were going to pick the car up!!! Oklahoma called me in Alaska and I called Gracie Moyer and explained that the deal was that I would come pick up the car and title back in Dec.'06 or Jan.'07. She tried to tell me I had e-mailed that I would pick up the car after May '07. I told her Gene was telling her the wrong story and I had the e-mails to prove it. I also related that Gene had dropped off eBay and his e-mail address was no longer valid. His P.O. Box returned my registered mail. She mumbled something about moving and having problems with eBay and they were kicked off. I said why didn't you at least let me know about the move, and any new contact information? She mumbled something about some trouble they had back in Jan. '07 and had moved. So, I told her I would pay storage if they could hold the car for a few months until I could come get it or have someone else pick it up. Also asked them to send me the title. Never to this day, will they give me a straight answer on the title and they have never produced one. Anyway, I found a transport outfit and after a very frustrating time with the Moyers talking out both sides of their mouths, I had the car hauled to Oklahoma for $575.00. They never would tell me exactly where the car pysically was and jerked my transport company around as well. The transport company called the same number that Gracie Moyer had called from, and the woman that answered said she never heard of Gene Moyer. I paid for some deeper investigations, and that phone number turned out to belong to Gene's sister. I e-mailed their new address, and Gracie sent me a differnt phone number for the transport company to contact them. I did more research and found these phone numbers and Moyers to all be the same, lying family. Here's what info I dug up on the Moyers. Gene is actually EUGENE J. MOYER, age 57, DOB 12/06/49. Relatives are GRACE MOYER, age 85, and a sister that lied to the transport company when they called the first phone number, named BARBARA J. MOYER, Box 881, Liberty, MO 64069. Gene uses a Kansas City, Mo P.O.Box number and won't answer most e-mails. GENE MOYER lives at 14327 State Hwy. M, Rayville, MO. 64068. GENE'S phone number is 816-977-4539. These MOYERS with the possible exception of Ma Moyer, are all bald face liers and are definitely hiding something or hiding from some one or someones. They were paid in full at the beginning of this deal, and have made it one very unpleasant experience. I have run across other car people that have been screwed over by GENE MOYER. Pass this info on to anyone that can use it and don't ever trust them unless dealing in person and picking up your car or parts at that time before they hide out again. No eBay did not help me as this was not an eBay transaction and I only met GENE MOYER aka wolfie2002b on eBay. And, GENE has completely ignored my requests for the title. We call the car the "DELIVERANCE CAR". And no, I won't ever pay that jerk a penny for six weeks storage as he cost me an unnecessary $600.00+.

So if I understand this right, you PAID for the car, you HAVE the car, WITHOUT the title, and are out $600.00 for UNNECESSARY expenses? So is this the long and the short of the story?

I think a few calls to his place of employment may help get the ball rolling. :-) Just remember not to make it too bad or you may have a harassment charge on you. Choose your words carefully.

Here's another thought... have you contacted the Missouri Police?

We learn from our mistakes, and ALSO what OTHERS do to us.

It could have been a lot worse, FOR SURE. He could have spent your money and kept the car, such has happened LOTS on EBAY, or through other venues.

Thanks to all for the postings. I'm fine with the results. I thought for sure Gene had departed with my car and the money. At least I've got the car, which is all I wanted all along. Over the years, I've had a few deadbeats completely beat me out of my parts. At least this time I've got something, and although I haven't got to look at the car in person, I've been told it's in fairly good shape. Lousy thick paint job saved the metal somewhat. So, I'm completely done dealing with Moyer. No more action required as far as I'm concerned. Not worth the effort even thinking about this jerk. Was just a trying experiece and it's a shame that there will always be some deadbeats in our hobby. I do believe if Gracie hadn't finally called Oklahoma, Gene never would have even bothered to try to contact me. I have a life and always enjoy meeting new old car hobbyists, and have many car friends that are honest . Most seem to be. I wanted others to be aware of Gene's actions and what type of a guy they are dealing with if they are unfortunate enough to ever deal with him.

This may be the same guy that dogged a buddy of mine 2 years ago. My pal sent a deposit for a 69 Camaro and loaded up his truck and trailer to drive down to Mo. to bring the car back to Iowa. Moyer told him to call when he got to this certain truck stop and he would give final directions from there. Pal arrives at truck stop calls Moyer and is told the car was sold the night before and won't give directions to the house so deposit can be returned. A very angry man drives 5 hours back home and never got the deposit back. People at the truck stop never heard of Moyer so it was assumed that the whole thing was a scam from the very beginning. A $500 plus expenses hard lesson.

Well guys, I've given you enough information to go to this guy's house and confront him, plus another fellow told you where he works. I'm done with GENE MOYER, but you can find him now.

Nothing burns me worse than somebody taking advantage of someone in a car deal or scam.Sounds like this guy has been doing this and will continue if something isn't done.Is there any way to get this information out to other web sites dealing with custom car and parts sales?I used a lawyer to help me out of a bad deal once ,did the trick. The IRS may be interested in this person sounds like he does a lot of shady deals.May try turning the information over to the Better Business Bureau, if they can't help maybe they can tell you who can.Revenge is sweet just try and do it legally.

I see that Specialty Autoworks is still in business, but the name appears as Specialty Auto Sports, inc. A Mr. Lawing is president and wife Tres.

I don't know the nature of you claim, but you might consider NOT NAMING HIM as you have. I am not saying he hasn't done wrong, but one needs to be careful in naming a person unless they have been found guilty,or admitted guilt. Can I assume that he hasn't to date.

I`M NO LAWYER , BUT I THINK THAT TY IS O.K. WITH HIS POST. HIS 1ST SENTENCE IS OBVIOUSLY FACTUAL AND HIS 2ND HE HAS QUALIFIED BY INCLUDING THE PHRASE (from what we are told). HOWEVER buick1`S ADVISE TO BE CAREFUL HOW YOU WORD THINGS IS SOUND AND SHOULD BE HEEDED. UNFORTUNATELY THE LAW TOO OFTEN ALLOWS PERPETRATORS TO TURN IT AGAINST INNOCENT VICTIMS.

If you have actual proof that this guy ripped you off, go to area's small claims court, it should cost you $30.00 or in that area, and Police will go after him to appear in small claims court. At least you can get the guy to come to court! While there ask them to do background check on him, usually will cost nothing! Also try to find out what bank he uses, and you can use court system to go into his account, and see if $ is in account! If you get judgement against him, you can do this! I have done it! Didn't get all my money, but got some, and he went to jail for writing bad checks! Ha Ha! served him right! Check all of Banks in that area, he should have some sort of account. He can go to jail if you had agreement for him to give you a title! Take big Bubba with you if you can locate him!

can't find moyer for you,but a word on small claims court. in ohio, small claims can find you guilty, but can't force them to pay. you take them back to court many times over, ( debtors court, payment court/liens, bank accounts, tax refunds... ). and still they don't pay. in my case, went thru all court systems, found him guilty everytime, and still no $$$$. but got sweet revenge, he fled ohio to arizona, told court system where he was, and still couldn't get him to pay. now for sweet part, a couple months later my cruzen buddy told me check out obits in paper, he died of drug overdose in arizona,SWEET. took his estate back to court in ohio, got nothing cuz' arizona took all assets because he was doing same thing there. buyers beware!

I got some of my money by going though his bank, and cleaning it out. I didn't get it all, but some is better than nothing. A person at Clinton County Courts told me how to do it! You are right, you can get judgement against him, but probaly won't pay, but at least you can get to see him eye to eye. I have a son called Big Bird, that got him, the thiefs buddy said he should file asault and battery against him, put I told him go ahead, that I have 10 or so guys he ripped off as well! He dropped the charge! I hate a thief! This guy has a list of felonys a mile long. I saw it at Court House!

I know I'm new here, but you might be able to tell from my avatar that I have spent some time on the aforementioned samba website.

"Mr. Moyer" has been discussed soooooo many times it's like a broken record.

He's a professional scam artist who somehow manages to get away with it consistantly.

Usually because the amount he scams people out of is not worth the hassle for most people to pursue it.

But thats just my take on the whole situation.
