My laSalle, has a rubber weather seal attached to the upper 1/2 of the door and another across the bottom on the body that seals against the door. The rest of the door [ lower 1/2 ] on the sides is only sealed by the wind lace. So, thats why its called wind lace!

never thought of that before till just now as I type.. OK, I have never been in anything older than a 55, So do these things seal up well enough like that or do I need to improve it with a full [rubber] door seal if I can get a seal that will fit? Need your help on this one, hate to see all that Lizard Skin go to waste due to lack of sealing around the doors. What do you guys advise?

A soft foam weatherstrip applied around the whole door will definitely help keep the cool air in. There are many types of 1/4 round peel and stick that usually work well in that area.

wind lace done right is the only seal you will get. not enough room for a lot of rubber. i use early ford weatherstrip on just about everything but i depend on the wind lace to seal it.

My 34 plymouth has no weatherstripping at all on or around the doors. Only wind lacing. No air coming in around the doors, pretty quiet considering the lack of insulation in some areas and the pair of too loud Smithy's. Did try to add some generic weathershipping once but it didn't add any benefit so I removed it.
