I have an old set of mag wheels that are somewhat pitted and have beed filled with filler and then painted, what would be the process for powder coating or can they be??

As far as I know you can not powder coat over any filler. The wheels would need to be sandblasted to strip and clean before coating.
powder coating involves baking after the powder is electro-staticly applied, the baking would cause any filler to lift and move. you would have to sand the wheels smooth before coating

You must first removed any type of body bondo. By either glass beading them or use a more abrasive substance. Once this process is achieved you should bake all the rims at around 350 degrees for about 1/2 hrs or so this will bring any substances out of substrate once this accomplished you can fill any voids by using a alumium filler and sand out. then you may powder coat them first by using a zinc powder coating . bake at around 400 degrees for approz 30 mins and apply your color rebake at 350 to 400 for around 20 mins presto your done
