I am thinking about removing the visor from my 30 A model truck, making it similar to a 32 car. I am going to fill the roof also.

What do you all think? If you have ever seen one done this, how did it look?

Brian Bass in Tx has done a 29 coupe on 32 rails with a 32 wndscreen frame and header. It works, but uit's a complete package. To just leave it off is kinda like someone with their eyebrows shaved off. Bass's car you will find on the HAMB if you do a search.

leave the visor, but mold it into the roof so it is seamless, one continuous piece. I did that to a model A a couple years ago and it turned out great.

Hey Lynn---

Pull it off =-- Have it louvered (Have louvers punched upside down and backwards)--

Then reinstall and mold it on.

Did this back in the 70's to a 2 door visor and had every 1 scratchin their heads.

It takes alot of board sanding to make 1 of those big roof and visor molds look good, but its definately worth it.

Thanks Guys. If I leave it, it will be molded in & one continous piece.

I have seen them with louvers & with holes cut in them. I just don't like the holes. I am just about to the point that I need to make a decision on which way I am going to go.

Shine, no shooting, unless 8 points & outside the ears!!

Lynn, I agree with da34 - Pull it off =-- Have it louvered (Have louvers punched upside down and backwards)--

Then reinstall and mold it on.

I think that it will look great like that and I agree with you , the holes would look faunky. Mold it though to slick it out. Good luck. Gonna look fantastic.

Don't loose the visor! That's what makes Model A's look like Model A's. The truck visors are larger than passenger cars so you could install the smaller one from a coupe or sedan if you wanted, but personally, I wouldn't change it.

Keep the visor, molded in looks real nice but make sure it's done right because a lot of wind gets under there at speed. This doesn't pertain to your year model but I even like 30-31 "A" visors molded in on the 28-29 style bodies. Whatever turns your crank but I would personally leave the visor.

As APLUS has said, there will be tremendous lift on the visor - another reason to do the louver deal along with the fact that it will make it look great. JMO- keep the visor and spiff it up.

Better late than never. I see you've already decided what to do but here's my $.02

Not all Model-As had visors. In 1931 the Vickys and some of the fordors had slanted windshields and no visor. The top of the windshield was not the smooth transition as on the '32 and, frankly, I don't think it looks good. A friend of mine with a Vicky modified the area above the windshield to try to make it flow smoothly and it came out very well. You can see it at:
