We are in the process of building a 1947 Dodge Panel for a customer. He chose to use a 502 RamJet from GM Performance, partly because he plans to drive it around the country and thought he could pull into any GM dealership if he had trouble and have it serviced. Well, that is not the case. It turns out that these engines use "marine technology" and a standard OBD2 scanner will not connect. As luck would have it we just fired the engine for the first time last week. It fired right up, but it runs terrible. It will only idle for about 30 seconds and then stalls. If we "blip" the throttle it will keep running. We checked the obvious things, timing, fuel pressure, injectors wired right.... We replaced the MAP sensor based on an error code given by the code reader that came with the engine. No help. We are only 10 days away from going out of warranty. I am getting concerned that we may not find the problem by then. We need a better way to anaylize this thing. Does anyone out there have experience with these RamJets that might help us? Thanks

I've installed two of them with some minor issues, Mark from Street & Performance helped me out.

I also seen one with a problem simalar to yours and it turned out it had the wrong injectors, I wish I could help you more, But Mark would be the guy I'd call

The return line and the feed line is 3/8" line using AN-6 fittings. The pump is a GM part# that is recommended in the installaton manual. It put outs around 48 to 50 lb,s pressure. The grounds are on three separate points on the engine, one on the left head, one on the right and one in the middle. (as per the manual again)

I do appreciate the efforts to help. These are all good questions, but I think we have covered the basics. I think what we need is a better way to anaylize the data stream. I am disappointed that the OBD2 scanner that I invested in is useless for this application.

Did you pull a plug and see if it is running to rich? Pull one on each bank. If it is running rough and then stalls it sounds to me as if the air/fuel mixture is staying in the "choke" mode and fouling plugs. Points to the O2 sensor. Are the exhaust tips black?

Did you remove the throttle body? If so, check the tps voltge. It should be around .55 volts.
