What was your first ticket for? Did you deserve it?

My first was when I was 20 and I was driving my first 71 cheyenne. The cop clocked me at 53 in a 35 or so she said. I asked her if she was dislexic(sp). She didn't think I was funny......I wasn't joking either. I was doing 35 in that 35.

Now it's your turn...:) -Brant

Loud pipes - racking in the middle of my little town. Daddy was the City Manager and he was not happy. They did sound great though (Glass packs with the heat risers blocked)

My first at age 14 a friend and I borrowed his parent's 49 Chevrolet neither of us was legal. The policeman said in court I was doing a great job just looked a little young. Since I was only a couple week's away from my 15th B.Day the Judge said if I passed my Driving Permit Test he would dismiss the charge. I passed without missing a question.

Just returned home from my drivers test.....paper license, no pictures back in the day. I proudly anounced that I was going to go for a ride and show my Aunt that I was now driving and at last 'Bonafide'. Going down a long hill, too fast and gawking around, I noticed that the light at the bottom of the hill was red and that there was a car stopped at the light. OOOPS, too fast and not skilled enough to avoid; I hit the car doing about 15 MPH pushing it into the intersection. Next think I knew, the driver was walking back to my car; strange, he looked like a Colorado State Patrol Officer.........ARGGGGGG!!! it was!!. I had just struck a patrol car on my first solo drive. The trooper stuck his very large head into my window and announced," You OK Boy !", I said I was fine. He asked for my license and registration.....I complied. He says, " Hell boy, the ink is still wet on this license, what's your parents phone number?" Well, I was grounded for a month, got a ticketed for following too close; cost me $20, half a years payments for chores done well. The car, by the way was a brand new 1963 Corvair Spyder. My dad had just purchased it two weeks before and it was his pride and joy. My life was now over ;-)

First ticket was for impeading traffic. I was cruising Balboa Calif in my 49 Ford woody. Looking at girls. I was holding up trafic. After the ticket I drove to Newport and cruised with out getting another ticket. I went to court in Orange county but lost in front of the judge. my only regret is that I wish I had the woody and Wardy board back. 1962 was a great year..

My first was for drag racing. 1960, on S. Main st in Santa Ana , California. The officer was really upset as he knew who I was, knew my dad and also worked @ Santa Ana Drag Strip on saturdays. The fine was $100, I didn't have the money, so my dad payed it and I had to work for my dad for 2 months to pay it off. Also he took the car away for 2 months.

My first were on a Moped delivering my paper route. I got ticketed for wrong way on 1 way st., illegal U-turn, no license, no registration, no inspection sticker, etc. This was in the late 50's when you could catch a break now and then. I got an old time judge that sternly lectured me and then cut me loose with a $15.00 fine and a promise to not do it again. Now in modern, revenue generation days, that would be about $ 2000.00 in fines.

First one was when I was racing another guy. He turned one way , I turned the other. Guess which one got pulled over? Couldn't get me for drag racing since the other car went a different way and could not prove we were racing. He did get me for 75 in a 35! Went to court and the judge said " you are charged with orbiting"

It was hard not to laugh. Paid my fine and got another speeding ticket the next day! That was a bad year!

I'm like Dixie, I can't remember one from the other. I remember having to walk for 30 days when they pulled my license after the third one though. Didn't really matter because I was away on board ship for 6 week stretches to Kodiak AK.

I can't remember when I got my first one but I can remember one that let me go... I was on my way back from Marville, Mo where my high school sweetheart was attending college.... it was about 4:00 AM and I was the only car on the road... I passed a truck stop outside some little town not too far from Maryville doing about 115 - 120.... I was slowing down for the town when I saw headlights come out of the truck stop... that time of night it had to be a cop... I topped the hill and pulled over to the curb by the courthouse and got my license out... the cop topped that hill and had to lock all four to stop... he backed in behind me... got out and walked up to my window... I had my license out waiting for him... he said "just how fast were you going when you passed that truck stop back there".... to this day I don't know why I said this but my answer was "about 115".... he just stood there like he couldn't believe his ears... then he threw his head back and he hawed... he said in all my years of stopping folks I never had nobody tell me they were doing 115..... AND HE LET ME GO!!!! If he's still alive I bet he's still telling that story....

In PA when you passed your driver's test they stamped your permit is having passed and this was legal until you real license finally arrived. Passed my drivers test, had stamped permit, took Dad's mustang out for a drive the day after passing my test. Went around a right turn in a neighborhood, mashed the gas, lit up the right rear tire, and then noticed the member of the local constabulary in the rearview mirror. Wrote me up for reckless driving and speeding (can't remember the speed) but my old man was thoroughly PO'd when I told him. Lost my license for 60 days over that one. Not a really good start.

Can't even remember how many tickets I got in the first couple years. Santa Monica cops were (and still are) tough on youngsters. If I had to pay for them I'd still be broke and probably wouldn't have a license today, but my step-father was the Santa Monica Superior Court Judge and the tickets just seemed to go away. Did I say I took advantage of that fact. The man had patience.

While she was flying down the road yesterday, a woman passed over a bridge only to find a cop with a radar gun on the other side lying in wait. The cop pulled her over. walked up to the car , with that classic patronizing smirk we all know and love, asked "what's your hurry?" To which she replied, "I'm late for work." "Oh yeah," said the cop, "What do you do?" "I'm a rectum stretcher," she responded. The cop stammered, "A what? A rectum stretcher? And just what does a rectum stretcher do?" "Well," she said, "I start by inserting one finger, then work my way up to two fingers, then three, then four, then with my whole hand in, I work from side to side until I can get both hands in, and then I slowly but surely strtch it, until it"s about 6 feet wide." " And just what the hell do you do with a 6 foot asshole?" he asked. " You give him a radar gun and park him behind a bridge....

Traffic ticket $95.00 Court cost $45.00 Look on the cops face PRICELESS

I was on my way to high school when I got my first ticket (circa 1987). Had just got on the interstate when I thought I spotted a cop coming toward me more than a mile away. I backed off but it was too late. He got my at 97 in a 55.

Nice guy, only wrote me up for 62 in a 55 probably because I was shaking like a leaf!!! Good thing he got me when he did because I was nearing the top of fourth and getting ready to grab 5th!

After that one I couldn't begin to count but have had them for speeding, not signalling, stereo too loud (several of those), exhibition, illegal lane changes, etc. I grew up (just a little) and haven't had a ticket for over 6 years. But just because I wrote that I'll probably get one today. I'm long overdue anyway! :-D

this is strange I read this web site last week and blk sheep was harrassing the guys from up north about the cold and then myrtle beach turned cold and windy, then today I went for a biscuit and on the way back I got my first ticket. It was for 49 in a 45 zone couldn't believe it but the speed limit is 45 . This is my first one in my life and I drove a truck across country for about 4 years. darn shame I made it for 42 years without getting caught. I didn't give him any trouble and he gave me a warning ticket. Told me to have a nice day. Now if I can just get someone to right about a guy in the south winning the lottery this site may be ok.

have a good day RED

I don't remember my first ticket. I do know I thought I was bullet proof about getting one. Drag racing all over town, even in front of the police station! After a couple of years of this I finally got a ticket. Then started getting more of them. I think I had eight points at one time. If you got 12 points on your driver's license they could take them away. So I quit that stuff on the street. I got my last ticket about 35 years ago. Running late for a dentist appointment. A radar cop got me for 47 in a 30. If I had told him I was a firefighter he probably would have let me go. But I was mad at myself for always running late. So I paid the ticket. I think it was only ten dollars.
When I was younger and even dumber, on trips I thought I had to break some kind of record to get where I was going. So on open road freeways I would do 90 most of the way. Now I hate those kind of drivers. I always hope to see them pulled over by a cop. Now I get out of their way. Get in the right had lane and put on the cruise control and do the speed limit.

My first was actually three. One winter night when heading home after a party in my 1960 VW beetle, I got stopped for 35 in a 25 zone, crossing the center line while passing another vehicle who was turning right, and having a loud muffler (resonators removed). Three tickets @ 2 points each - 6 points and a sentence to the DMV outlaw driving program to watch gory pictures. Attended the driving program, aced the test, went to court and got all fines dismissed. Still got the points though.

The picture I took of my car is in the Ford Conference Center across the street from the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn a few years ago. They called me up to bring it over and my wife and I got a great surf and turf dinner out of it at a function they were having. I have had the '34 for 21 years. Still in love with it!

Hey purpleflameguy---by any chance was that new bypass RT 283 or RT 30? Just kind of curious. I got pulled over on Rt 30 around 1970 in my 68 Lemans. Cop chewed me out for awhile, asked to look under the hood and then let me go. Had he written me up it would have been for at least 100+. And the list can go on and on.

Nice spring evening 1972 out on country roads (20 miles from town)in my buddies 1963 HiPO 289Falcon Sprint convert. Just did some engine/tranny mods and were trying to see how the changes worked. I was showing my buddy how to power shift and we were really getting on the old girl. The state cop was evidently taking a break and had setup a speed trap at end of a loooong straight away. As I came up over the rise there he was- too late to do anything. He knew us so nothing to do but pull over. Made me drive back home to my buddies and then he "escorted " me home.He was friends with my parents. Got 6 points- reckless endangerment, 60 miles over speed limit(clocked at 115),the list goes on. Had to attend classes to keep my license.

Ahotrod33, It was on Rt100 North of Pottstown, Heck, we had been racing on the road for a year before it was opened. Funny thing was my friend had a new mustang 289 271HP High Performance, 4 speed. He could not beat me to save his butt, even went to 2x4 and hotter cam and 4:56 gears. Maybe we could hook up at a cruise nite somewhere, now that it is Spring, but wait it was 27 this morning, but the invitation still holds, it will be warm eventually. Used to run at York U.S. 30 in C/Highway class. Was like gas class but only allowed 1 carb. Ran 12.07 in a 3200 car with a screaming 327, shifted at 8,000. Those were the dsays. Yes I did have a scattershield.

I was 16, driving a 1965 Plymouth Fury (Dads) and was coming home from my job at the IGA grocery store in Oklahoma City. Turned into the neighborhood and proceeded to zip down the street passing in front of a cop. I think it was 35 in a 20. Went before the judge and aplogized and he showed mercy and dropped the charge. The problem was that when it happened and I was in the car with the cop (lights flashing) my parents went by. I didn't drive for a while. I have made up for it! I have had a few tickets along the way, but not for quite a while. KNOCK ON WOOD!

When I started driving, the local cops were driving Rambler Ambassadors. Didn't want to tell your friends that one of those things caught you. Local police gave up chasing us as it was hopeless. Highway patrol was another story. E.C . Locklear, the only highway patrol in our county, had a 64 Galaxie with a phase III 427 in it. 140 to 150 MPH. Had to stay home when he was out. Ah, the good ole days.
