About 5 yrs ago. There was a hot rodder about 65-70 yr old from some small town, drove a 1930? ford roadster on street,He would drive the car to salt lakes,at the lakes he would install, wheeels, gears, roll cage anything needed to compete.I beleave he would run over 250m.p.h.I think he set some records, than take off race equipment drive back home. I remember the engine was a 429 boss, with a five speed, maron in color,Does any one out there remember this car, man, still racing,?? COME ON GUYS REMEMBER

that his name, all i can say he is a builder, does all his own work, built his own fuel injection system, great old guy,we have that same type person in southeast texas, sam cunningham, don't really know how old sam is now i would guess 75, when you raced this man you are going to red light.i dont care how you launch, he had a 1962 vett,302 cu inch with stock rochester fuel injection, figured out how to install 2 throttle bodys and get them to work on it, about the red light, back in the late 1960. he had a stock front end, when the vetts wheels came off the ground the front wheels would swing to the rear of car 2" he would leave as soon as he saw yellow, car would leave, wheels never brake the beam.try to launch against someone doing that, all you will see is red.

he is still building motors,he loves s.b.400 chevys.if you tell him you want him to build a big block.his first question ,is why. tell me how fast you want to go.weight of car.it takes a big mountain motor to run with his small block 400. i got a hold of one of his motor one time i tried my damest to throw a rod, would not happen.i can remember,i was there, had a grand opening of a new chevy dealer ship here, sam was already a national record holder on his own no sponcer. two chevy reps. were there for the dealership opening, the dealer asked sam to show his car and he did.the two chevy reps got to talking to sam about the car. question they asked what rpm do you shift at, sam told them 10000, did not beleave him,his remark was put you money where you mouth is. 3 min at 10000 rpms sitting there, old boys went back to detroit and left $1000.00 in sams pocket, offered him full factory backing before thy left. his reply dont need it.them were the days, wish i was back in the good old days and know what i know now, i would be hell to deal with, back then all the gray beards would tell you how to go fast in a flat head ford.

now we as gray beards can tell the younger gen. how to build good hot rods, look around younger gen building street rods? very few.most of them have rich families ,and spend there money on rice burners. i guess true hot rodding, old coups and roadsters, will die out to,i am glade i have a

daughter 25 yr old that i have helped build her first prostreet camero,1992 25 th aniversary special, does not street race ,so i have been told,i lied to my dad to,i do let her drive my truck at local strip, had a little s--t in her neck at first, once she was not scared of it,holly hell broke loose, now she wins quite regular at strip, this is one young that the saying, drive it like you stole it,

she is a firm belever of that saying, only thing bad about it driving the h--l out of it ,is that its my toy, we are in the process

of putting a lot of big block in her car,so she can run it. this is one little girl i know will carry on with rodding and racing, when i drive to heaven
