ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET CLEAR TAILGATE CHAIN COVERS ? I KNOW I CAN GET THE STAINLESS CHAINS FROM WOOD 'N PARTS BUT I HATE TO COVER THEM UP WITH BLACK RUBBER COVERS. I HAVE SEEN THE CLEAR COVERS ON SEVERAL TRUCKS BUT HAVE NEVER SEEN THEM ADVERTISED.I WAS GOING TO GO WITH HIDDEN LATCHES AND STRAPS BUT MY WIFE LIKES THE OLD LOOK OF THE ORIGINAL STYLE.

Ha ha ha! I thought you were asking for CLEAR TIMING GEAR / CHAIN COVERS! I was thinking to myself, "Self, why would someone want a clear cover for their timing gear or timing chain/sprocket set? The water pump is going to cover it up anyway."

LMAO, oh the humor!

Check any hose and hydraulic commercial supply place. they should have clear pvc hose in various diameters. Really cheap 1" id runs about 50 cents a foot. if you talk smoothly and explain what you need they may even give you a few feet as a free sample.

I would look at finding a way to not use the chains, No matter what you use on it, it will scuff up the paint, What about a late modle cable mounted on the inside

GM currently has a replacement campaign for the STEEL tailgate cables the were std. equipment on '01-'05 full size pickups. They will replace them with stainless pieces, since some of the steel cables rusted as a result of salt roads, ect.. Bet if you talked to a local GM Technician, he could scarf a couple of the discarded steel cables. Regardless wether they were rusty or not, GM replaced them all. These could also be lightly painted the body color and therefore, go away.
