Like Shine said... water has to be able to drip down through the radiator to cool so it goes to the top of the radiator from the intake manifold and is recovered at the bottom into the water pump...

what i need to know is the heater hose sizes are 3/4 and 5/8 which one goes into the water pump at the side hole on the pump . ive looked at a few of my rod buddies cars they dont have heat .how chilly is that ride on them cold mornings in the spring and fall . sitting here getting cold thinking about it . anyways i have even looked through over 100 old carcraft and hot rod magz . there has been many useful articles we used in the past nothing to be found on this subject though . the heater core already has two different sizes on it so i can size that end up . does the hot water flow out the side of water pump or the intake manifold . i also need to know what line to put the water shut down for the air conditioner help !!!!! thanks bob in ny

2 part answer - it depends on the heater core itself you are using, some it does not matter which is which, its all 1 loop.

But to give you a answer your looking for, on my streetrod I have a VINTAGE air and heat system. The 5/8" hose goes from the firewall to the side of the water pump. Top hole on the water pump is blocked off. The 3/4" hose goes to the front of the intake manifold, next to the water neck ( thermostat housing ).

Hope this helps, Bill

heater control goes in the intake line. water flows out of the intake thru the heater core and into the pump.shut the water off before the heater core- hose coming from intake.

Mine can sometimes tell me what I'm thinking--which is good, because I forget half way through!
