The company in Mexico which was building 32 bodies for a few years back in the 70-80s?? They brought them in through either Laredo or El Paso TX and some other port in Arizona, I believe.

They seemed to be going great guns for s couple or more years, had a magazine writer on staff as their US rep. I think they made chopped and stock 32 5W Coupes and naturally roadsters and they were built with technology borrowed from boats and other crafts with stiffening blocks and panels etc.

Anybody know??

Anybody care?

There is a warning printed on the side of a cigarette pack. People still sue for millions. Fibreglass dust causes lung cancer...people sue. Businesses pay workmen comp, medical and vacation...people sue their employer. Business goes off shore to protect themselves. People say...who can I sue now???? This is an oversimplification and only one view to a mulitfaceted subject. You want cheap...suffer!

I have never heard of "American", but if you're asking because you're looking for a body made completely from composite materials...Try Bear Fiberglass in Prescott, AZ.

Don't know if American fiberglass shut down or not, but I do know that I am ready to retire and my chassis shop is for sale. I am selling my frame fixtures and welders, if anyone is interested let me know. The fixtures are for 1932 thru 1940 Ford. The welders are Miller Tig and Mig in excellent shape.

Hey Leon, you're not thinking of Jeff Brinkley, are ya? He had Brinkley Mgf. and El Mirage Street Rods. His molds have been for sale for about a year (the old Harwood molds). I don't think he had anything to do with American, but I'm wrong too darn often.

And still nobody has answered Pasadena's question.

No, Jeff didn't have anything to do with American, But your right, Jeff has "or Had" the Harwood molds I talked to Jeff about buying his, he called me a few weeks ago but I didn't even ask if he still had them or not. The American Molds were actually pulled from a Harwood body, American didn't have the Harwood molds, but They both had thier molds up for sale just about the sametime

Jeff is a really GREAT guy! Sad to see him quitting business as he built some very nice bodies (I'm a little partial to Harwood anyway). He told me he was getting into real estate, I hope he does well.
