Now that the summer is winding down, I thought I would start cleaning out the trunk of my 57' BelAir. I can't believe the junk I been carring around.

2 nearly worn out folding chairs, several colors of n/g 50/50 tickets, 26 expired cruise-in flyers, 3 half or less empty bottles of windex, 13 wads of half used (I can get 1 more wipe out of this one) paper towels, tools unique to this car,but I forgot what for, 2 bottles of (God, I hope there still good) fix-a-flat, a fire extinguiser I'm pretty sure still works, 11 stained beyond recognition terry cloth towels, 1 now black California duster that I insist is still good, 2 dried up jars of Mothers mag polish, my jump starter that I think still has enough charge in it, a nearly empty bottle of trans fluid thats leaked all over the terry cloth towels and the 1/4" ratchet I been lookin all over hell for.

Now, we both know somebody else with a trunk like this. Difference is.....mine's now clean.

blksheep.....trunk space for rent....in Charlotte

Trunk space for rent? I sure could use that space as my 34 has no trunk. You're a lucky man if you got trunk space, filled or otherwise.

Trunk space ??.....that is why i likes my pickup....pleanty of room for chairs, coolers, toolbox (for my friends that have chevy powered rods) Theory being,,,if i hauled in all of the coolers, etc. i should not have to worry about running out of beer. So far so good : )

totally involved? That's when you call on Shine. He'll come pee on it and that will surely put out the flames. You won't need no stinkin' dry chemicals.

Fitzwell you probably need a truck to haul around a chevy engine to get you out of the mud puddles youd get stuck in. TA_DA!

I always thought age is a state of mind--I think my mind is still young--sometimes the body won't listen to the mind though

big, i wish we had mud puddles aound here...hasn't rained in about a coons age.and why would i need a chevy engine, oh, yeah....weight for traction. Good point : )

as for shine putting out a fire...............i think not. If he ever cuts ont of the trees by the shop & accidently uses it for firewood, all hell could break loose

blksheep, You mentioned fire extinquisher. Mine is due to get refilled and refreshed. The fire extinquisher company told me if they have a metal top and a gauge they are refillable. About every 12 years. If the top is plastic they are throwaways. I got to get that done. Im talking about the dry chemical. Of course it won't do you any good if the car is totaly involved.

Willys33, yes, halon was banned years ago. If used in a closed space it replaces the oxygen in the space and you can die. Also environmently unfriendly. Of course, smoke can do the same thing. When I was on the fire department we were told to put on our air tanks and mask if we were in a place that had a halon system. This was before it was banned. Another tip, in a modern car with the five mile per hour bumpers. The bumpers can fly off if heated enough from the fire. I never saw it, but it is supposed to have happened. We tried to stay away from the bumpers when putting out a fire in a totally involved car fire. Could possibly take your legs off or injure them.

Trunk space--all that stuff is still in my street rod--got a few more places to go and gather some more stuff. Wife is using trunk of the 55 for hiding Christmas presents already--go figure.

I agree it's a total state of mind. It's just real hard to convince the body sometimes.
