Hot Rod Super Nationals 2008
May 30, 31 and June 1st was a busy, hot rod filled week for Springfield Illinois. The 29th Annual Hot Rod Super Nationals was once again in town. Friday as everyone made their way to the registration area I could not help but notice that the travel distance seemed a bit
shorter. More plates from Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, and Missouri
and fewer and fewer from New York, Florida and Texas. The weather was rough Friday night with tornado's blowing through town but Saturday morning the sun returned and a cool breeze kept everyone quite
comfortable in the shade. Your registration fee included plenty of
entertainment. There were NASCAR simulator setups where you were the driver, the DynoMax Dyno Challenge (there was an additional charge for
this) allowed you to check out the true torque and horsepower of your ride, a burnout contest, demo derby, jet powered jeep and outhouse and a
bikini contest to keep everyone occupied Saturday and Sunday. All and
all this was a great event to attend and relax. The fees were quite reasonable, and there were still plenty of great cars to see. Here are a few interesting sites from the show. |
