Our second stop on Saturday July 5th was the Historic Mill a Route 66 Landmark.

What a great looking group...but we overwhelmed the place. No matter they made a spot for us and we were the talk of the diner!

Friday night is the beginning of the Heartland Cruise festivities. This year the Springfield Jaycees decided that a lower arial display would be safer and thus may have changed our plans to watch the display from the parking garage roof but no matter we are downtown and can walk the 2 blocks necessary to be right in the center of the action. Springfield will be hopping with an ice cream social, family events, bands and food for this annual 4th of July celebration. We will get to meet, greet and hang out together in person! Of course our friends across the country will get play by play pictures of the festivities and may decide that next year....they are coming to Springfield!

Saturday will be the real cruising day for our Hot Time in the Heartland Cruise. As many of you already know the Car Show we planned some 2 years ago was changed and this Cruise Day is the result. July 5th we will wake up at the Hilton Hotel and head out for a day filled with fun and great cars. Here are the details.

Hot Time in the Heartland is just a few days away. Are you ready??

Our first ever attempt at a car event was off to a roaring start. Flyers were passed out, shirts were made and everyone seemed to be on board. However in the fall it became apparent that this show was not going in the direction it was originally intended. StreetRodding.com members didn't want a beauty pagent and voiced a desire to see the area and spend time talking face to face. We were also up against several larger shows in the area and much larger fuel prices so we went back to the drawing board and the forums for some suggestions. As expected our members came up with some great ideas and as a result the Hot Time in the Heartland "Cruise" is scheduled for July 4th and 5th in sunny Springfield, Illinois.
