  • Jeff, check the measurements. I think a Caddy Allante would be the perfect donor for going under that body skin.....

  • Right about in the era of that car,the management of Studebaker was entertaining the concept of putting the engine in the rear. Hence the front and rear body style had to be able to accommodate the motor in either place, similar to Tucker. The Turret tops cars show the style more if you look carefully. They were known as the coming or going car. Another tidbit: Did you know later that Studebaker bought STP and Paxton Blowers? The old Studebaker proving grounds have a tree line (planted 1936-37) arranged vertically above the oval that has a surprise from Google Earth. Google "Bendix proving grounds". Also Studebaker once owned Pierce Arrow autos. I have a Studebaker wagon step with the name in the step that my Dad found along the Santa Fe trail along with a set of yokes.
Perhaps your ancestors were cruising the Santa Fe trail and that is where you got your desire to cruise Route 66. Ya never know.

  • I sure like the way the bumpers fit right up to the car. It looks almost custom. This is one of the few that did not have the bullet in the grille, that makes is harder for Joe Blow to identify. Do you think you will keep pretty much the stock look for the body? You know the story of the front and rear hoods and shape, right?
