Ron (Blown34inak) didn't use much of that Street Beast he bought.  He cut off the fenders and used just the main body for his hiboy.  Turned out really cool didn't it?  The guy has the imagination and talent to get it done.  Only one I've ever seen that I wouldn't mind owning.

Like Buzz said - I'm one of those folks who will recommend Redneck!  I continue to be impressed with how well-made and how strong my Redneck '33 Sedan body is put together.  And unlike the Streetbeast, the fenders/running boards/grille shell/et cetera are all true to the originals (except they are stronger).  Check out their website: www.redneckstreetrods.com - give Tim a call (417) 681-0533.

Bob....Fiber Fab, Classic Motor Carriage, aka Street Beast = all the same garbage in Miami Florida for 35 years.

Thanx to ugly Lady Bird Johnson, real steel is hard to come by here in the East, so fiberglass bodies are big.

Dee Wescott pioneered steel tubing reinforcement in glass bodies. Outlaw Performance thanx to Tony Minotti, pioneered the glass slick gelcoat and super fit up. Downs has the record for greatest number of bodies made which are great. Gibbon never used steel.....out of business.

Probably every glass body manufacturer has passed thru my doors over the years....... School of Hot Rod Hard Knocks, 410 535 1933

Over the years I have had 4-5 of the 1934 Streetbeast 3 Window Coupes, I am not a builder, just like the streetrods, the cars that I have had were already built, some needed paint, or minor items fixed or changed to suite my taste.  In all the cars that I have had made by Streetbeast, I have not had a problem.

Everyone keeps saying that they are so bad, but no one every tells what the problems are, if everyone finds them so bad, just what is the major problem with the bodies or the car itself?

Just would like to hear why they get such a bad rap.

They're made in fl but just remember not in DADE CITY. Ok OK doors don't fit ,windshield is an after though the way it fits . if u break a fender u can't buy just a fender are grille, running boards everything is one piece, body dosen't fit any frame, inside well that's another story an that's just a few things wrong.

The porch dog is right, people get feelings hurt with these kind of threads. If the SB car lights your fire, then good luck cause you are the one in a million. They are out of proportion and hard to repair if damaged, and most reputable rod shops will not get involved with them. They are a guaranteed money loser in most all cases, but there are exceptions to that rule. I have seen this happen with a friend of mine who got sucked in with the sales pitch, cause he just didn't know. This was back around 1998 or 9, and he finally found a buyer for it and got kind of lucky at only around a 8K loss. He took his licks and lesson learned, as is now on his 3 rd hot rod since then. All have been glass name brands, and all built and sold at a profit and none were SB bodies.

google streetbeast and look at the results. I believe it was hottodder.com or one of those sites that has an extensive thread on streetbeast cars. One builder said he liked them, but he's the only one I ever heard say that. He claimed he had built numerous sb's and he admitted they weren't meant for the novice builder! Listen to the guys who know...whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck...CR

I LOVE my Street Beast!!!  LOL!!!

I don't know about the newer bodies Bob, but my Fiberfab 1988 body is/ was pretty crude.  There is no backing in the door window openings for the fuzzies. It's just a 1/8" thick fiberglass edge.  The kit comes with vinyl push on edge trim. The floor and firewall are seperate from the rest of the body. The instrructions say to use self tapping screws to attach the floor to the frame,  The transmission tunnel was 1 1/2" off center also.

I cut off the fenders / running boards, and threw away the floor and hood.  I made a floor out of fiberglass to fit the 34 frame and glassed it to the shell.

    Thank God I know fiberglass!!

The only part of the origional frame I used was for the rear axle trusses.

Thanks guys for the encouragement. Don is right, the preportions are not correct. The first thing that jumps out at you is the grill shell. I have been thinking about building my own shell that is more in proportion to the real thing. I can't use an original grill so I'll have to make my own. The doors do seem to fit pretty good on this one. I saw one at Cruising The Coast last year that really did look nice. I do believe that the builder has a lot to do with how nice they turn out.

I have seen the Street Beast sell as a finished car for the same prices as a better constructed vehicle.

I've also see them that look very nice.

To the average guy they look great. And if built by someone who knew a little can be just fine.

One big problem is they are not a to scale copy of an original.

So exchanging parts etc is a problem. So body work repairs may be an issue, or.... you may never need any of those repairs.

Also their overall construction is not of as good of quality as many others. They are lower quality thus lower price.

Also your resale (if you ever do) will be more limited. Guys that know rods stay away from them. They are most often sold to first time rodders.

But that does not mean it's a bad thing. Just not as "good" as some others.

I urge you to compare the car with others.

If it's built well and a good value and you love it. Cool.. Welcome fellow street rodder.

But use some caution and don't over pay for the vehicle. Check it out throught besides the paint job.

You can have just as much fun with it as any other car.

Just try to look at the whole picture and see if it's right for you.

If you're building from scratch no car is an"easy" build. Be sure your going to be happy with something you will spend many. many hours on... I mean lots' of hours more then you think.

    My Suggestion if it helps

    Ron

I think you have a great looking car same as some other folks on this site who own the same type of car. i just dont get it when someone starts out with someone about their car that they know nothing about. im into enjoying "my car" just as it is and what it is. it just happens to be in the reassembly stage but i still get on here and enjoy the site till someone gets on here and knocks down someones car. i wish it would stop!!

Your questions is a fair question even though it has been on here plenty---Pay attention to those who do this for a living. If you doubt what is said about them being poor quality simply start pulling up cars for sale on various web sites and look at the resale compare to a decent glass body, should get the picture real quick. To me, they don't even have the correct body contours I can spot one as far as I can see it. There is one of their 34 bodies at a body shop couple miles from me, got it in trade, he says worst trade he ever made. Tried to sell it for several years with no luck, says he ain't gonna mess with it and looking at it I would not either. Your call, good luck !!

How many times have we gone through the Sh*t Beast issue? They are a POS plain and  simple. Experienced rodders wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole. If someone wants to buy one, thats their business, but know you'll have it  the rest of your life. I don't think I've ever seen one without a for sale sign on it. Take the advice from  guy's like Shine and da34guy. They know what their talking  about they do this stuff for a living.

the original thread was a question by bob about the cars. he was warned about them and hopefully steered clear of them and saved time and money.

why mrdillon searched for a thread on them and then after reading it decided to post his video i have no idea. the opinions were already there .  no one was knocking his car just the mfg. just because he owns one does not change the facts.

this company has screwed thousands of guys out of money , shipped incomplete kits , used bottom of the barrel resins producing a shell that will crack and god knows what else. they are disliked even in the kit car circles . they have sued countless hotrodders to shut them up. they even sued hotrodders.com to try and hide the facts. which they lost. the owners are facing jail time in florida over many things they were involved in so excuse me if i dont have anything good to say about them. they are gone. no parts availible if you crash one and if you didn't get all your parts you never will.

read some of this and then tell me how wonderful they are.

I didn't hear anybody say that StreetBeasts are wonderful.  It wasn't a matter of warning MrDillon not to buy one, he already did - too late.  Regardless of how bad the kit was to start with, he managed to make it look nice.  He should be proud of it.

The company was shit.  They were low-lifes.  They are gone now.

Bang on ... if you have an opinion or point of view say it ... but there's no need to criticize if somebody has a different opinion ... get over it ... If everyone thinks the same way we'd all drive the same car and marry the same girl ... The thing is that some guys are like the blindman wiping his ass ... they just don't know when to stop !!

(ps ... I don't have anything against the blind)

Jeepers.... Looks like I was the last to leave a comment on this over a year ago.

I've not been contributing to the site for some time. Then started getting the emails about this old thread.

I must say you guys are, as always, entertaining smiley

Not so sure about the ewwww.. hygiene habits of the BC Canucks fans...

(Since hockey seasons starting may as well give Rusty a ribbing... wink)

Thanks for the cool video thread MrDillon looks like a nice car. yes

Anyway... just figured I'd pop in and say "Keep up the good work gang... "

Nothing like a difference of opinion to get some heart rates up. Sure beats working out cool
